It was a slow day for Hailman. Even when students weren't in the town the place was usually quite busy, and Danika liked it that way. It meant she was bringing in money. She had sent most of her staff home, leaving only her and a cook in the back. They weren't happy about the cut in their hours, but why pay people not to do anything. She was cleaning out the wine glasses. They were rarely used in the bar but they collected dust in the old bar rather quickly. She had on the radio, which was playing some old song that was likely popular when her father was her age.
The resident alcoholic was sitting in the corner of the bar. She popped a bottle open on her belt buckle bottle opener. It took skill to be able to crack open a bottle of beer on her belt, without willing it across her lap. She's been working in the bar for as long as she can remember though. She set the bottle in front of the man. He nodded thankfully. He was one of those guys who had bad past written all over their face so you didn't question why they were drinking so much. As long as he payed for his liquor and didn't scare away any of her other customers she was not one to ask such things.
She had a basket of french fries sitting behind the bar that she had been eating, at least before she decided that the wine glasses could use a dusting. As she set the last glass back up with the rest of them she popped herself open a beer, sitting on the stool she dragged behind the bar considering it was so slow. She sat, picking at her now cold french fries, barely eating them but not wanting to waste the food. .

That day was a fairly easy day for Demetrius. Why? Well, he had the day off which was a pretty rare occasion. He worked for the Accidental Magic Reversal Squad at the Ministry, which was constantly busy. At least once a day, they had to rush to some muggle town to undo the doings of a bad witch or wizard. It was a pain, really, to see so many magical talents wasted by boredom. Of course, they didn't go after the criminals. No, that was a job for the Aurors. Dem was pretty glad that he didn't have to go after the bad guys - simply reverse their wrong-doings. It was a nice, steady job though. It provided a good amount of respect from himself and others. He truly felt like he was doing some good for the magical world. After work, though, it was definitely time to do some bad for himself.
Demetrius snickered to himself as he apparated outside of Hailman's pub. It was a cozy little place, with an old-fashioned feel. He adored it, really. All the technology those days was obnoxious. He swept thoughts of disarray from his mind and entered the bar, his presence obvious among the darker, older men that sat in booths, their slouches overbearing. He smirked to himself and took a seat at the bar, three stools away from an old man who looked like he really needed to head home. He shook his head to himself then looked up at the woman behind the bar, who he knew was the owner. He and Danika might not have been the closest of people, but he knew her decently enough. Well, as close to knowing someone to have a one night stand with him, he supposed.
He raised an eyebrow as he settled on the stool, grinning at her. "Simply firewhiskey, dearest Danika," he said, then chuckled. "Actually, throw in a basket of fries. If you're good, I might even share," he provoked, winking at her. It was fun to mess around with her. Well...scratch that. It had been fun to mess around with her, but now they were simply bartender and customer. He made jokes with her now and again, but he knew his time there would end with his few bottles of whiskey and maybe a hug goodbye. It wasn't often that Demetrius got to engage in conversation with a girl, for his busy schedule hardly permitted so. Still, Danika wasn't bad company, even for a girl.
